Important news for Nutro customers

UPDATE 22nd OCTOBER 2009

As of 25th September 2009, Nutro UK ceased to trade. Once existing stocks of Nutro have been sold you will no longer be able to buy Nutro in the UK.

I would advise any exisiting Nutro feeders to think seriously about changing your dogs food BEFORE you run out completely to minimise any upset to your dog. Excellent alternatives are Arden Grange and Barking Heads, both of which can be purchased on this site and delivered anywhere in Merseyside free (home, work, parents etc) Samples of both are available.

In 2007 Nutro Products Inc were taken over by Mars Inc. Mars are well known as the manufacturers of Pedigree and Cesar, Whiskas and also have a stake in Royal Canin and James Wellbeloved.

Since the take over, many of the Nutro lines have been discontinued in the UK. These include the Holistic Care line (all) and also puppy mini and puppy medium amongst others. Nutro's line of high quality biscuits were also discontinued.

Production of the UK's supplies of Nutro was switched from the US to Hungary and the recipe has changed from the original Nutro that was brought in pre the Mars takeover.

As a result I am no longer stocking the Nutro range.

If you have a dog on the "conventional" Nutro recipes take a look at the Arden Grange dog food range, which also includes Salmon flavour dog food.

If you were on one of the Holistic Care recipes, take a look at Orijen.

It is my personal decision not to stock the "new" Nutro, both my own dogs were fed on Nutro since puppies and they are in perfect health at the ages of 12 and 10. It is a shame Nutro is no longer the food it was and their range of complementary treats has also stopped. My dogs are currently being fed Arden Grange with a view to possibly changing them onto Orijen in the near future - they were previously fed on Nutro's Holistic Care Adult.
