Please take a look at these lost dogs. You may have seen them with someone or wandering.Remember if you find an apparently lost dog, PLEASE TELL SOMEONE YOU HAVE FOUND THE DOG. - even if you take the dog in and look after it in your own home. Tell the police, local vets, RSPCA, Dogs Trust, your local Dog Warden etc. Tell as many people as possible. Don't forget while you are giving that dog shelter and love and affection there is an owner going frantic with worry out there that doesn't know if their dog is alive or not. The dog may not hav ea collar on but it may be microchipped. All vets, RSPCA and Dogs Trust can scan the dog and if it is microchipped, reunite it with the owner very quickly.
If your dog isn't microchipped, consider getting it done. Even if your dog is wearing a collar it may slip it meaning it is loose with no visible identification and no way of reuniting it with you.
By law your dog must wear a collar with an id tag whenever it is out in public. If you take the dog's collar off in the house, consider what would happen if someone accidentally let it out of the house or back garden or it got out through a hole in the fence.
